Equity Estates, a well-known Johannesburg investment and development company, originally formed when African Life chose to dispose of part of their property holdings, has a substantial portfolio of office and retail property, is currently involved principally in developing the 315 000m2 Menlyn Maine complex in Pretoria and a shopping centre in Natal. Equity Estates, the developers of New Court at Steenberg, established their Cape Town office some time ago and in addition to the award winning New Court at Aphen project, developed The Old Match Factory, the complex that houses the personnel of the Woolworths ABSA business unit. They are considering further Cape Town opportunities and intend at the end of 2016 to commence with Hoek van de Berg, a model housing village in an extensive nature reserve on the Hermanus coastline.
